When anxiety arrives, we often reach for a stronger thought to push it away. But a silenced mind is not the same as an understood mind.
Do not solve it yet
Anxiety says: hurry, work it out, find certainty. If we join that pressure, the mind must carry both the unknown and our demand to escape it. Sometimes the most useful answer is permission not to know yet.
Move attention from the story to the body. The chest may be tight, the throat narrow, the palms damp. Feel these sensations without making them good or bad.
Give the future back to the future
Anxiety drags an unlived future into today. The mind rehearses danger because it wants to protect us. Thank it, then ask: what is the one thing this moment actually requires?
One step is not the whole road. Yet the step beneath your feet is more real than a hundred roads inside the head.
“Calm is not the banishment of anxiety. It is the freedom not to be driven by it.”
